NYSEIA Awards 17 Projects and Individuals with New 6KC Awards for Achieving Solar Success |
| Released on May 17 2010 |
ALBANY, NY, May 13 – Solar powered government buildings, schools and towns along with a military base, correctional facility and dairy farm were among more than a dozen projects throughout the state recognized by New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) with its first 6KC awards.
Presented during the association’s annual “NY Solar Industries 2010: The Business of the Sun”
conference in Albany, awards were given for best state and federal projects; innovative solar thermal and photovoltaic (PV) projects; roof top and ground mount projects; and net zero residential and commercial buildings that generate more energy than they consume.
In addition, four solar industry and legislative champions were recognized during ceremonies May 12-13 at the Crowne Plaza City Center.
The new award program is named for 6,000 degrees Celsius; the estimate of the temperature of the surface of the Sun. NYSEIA created the 6KC Awards to recognize tangible solar successes of specific projects and individuals, not theories or concepts that have yet to reach the surface.
