NYSEIA Solar Advocacy Operations Internship

Position Summary


New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) seeks a detail-oriented and enthusiastic person to support its organizational, membership, and policy operations. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong communication and administrative skills and an interest in advancing solar energy. As the Solar Advocacy Operations Intern, you will work closely with NYSEIA staff to provide support on a variety of tasks, projects, and events. This is an opportunity to gain experience in the New York State solar energy industry and to help advance equitable legislative, regulatory, and programmatic policies that increase the deployment of solar energy across New York State.



Responsibilities


* Conduct outreach to member organizations pertaining to membership and policy matters.

* Assist with answering and resolving member inquiries on organization and policy matters.

* Assist in drafting member communications on key solar energy market and policy developments.

* Coordinate, plan, and provide support for events and workshops (virtual and in-person).

Assist in preparation of documents pertaining to policy advocacy, board of directors, and member engagement.

* Coordinate and schedule meetings for membership, staff, internal working groups, board of directors, and external stakeholders.

* Support staff and member research activities and projects as needed.



Skills and Qualifications


* Detailed-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Strong organization and time-management skills

* Flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on multiple time-sensitive tasks

* Familiarity with G Suite or Microsoft tools preferred, e.g. Google Docs and Microsoft Word

* Interest in and familiarity with solar energy and New York State energy policy preferred



Position Details


* This is a part-time internship for students, recent graduates, and New York resident military veterans.

* Candidates must apply for and be approved by the NYSERDA Clean Energy Internship Program.

* The minimum period for this internship is eight weeks, and will require a commitment of ~10–20 hours per week.

* This is a remote position, though candidates must be physically located in New York State during the internship. Interns located in Nassau or Suffolk County are not eligible due to the NYSERDA funding source for this program (New York State System Benefits Charge / Clean Energy Fund).

* Compensation is $20.00 per hour.
