Shyam Mehta
Executive Director

Shyam Mehta comes to NYSEIA after almost a decade as a market research manager and analyst at Greentech Media (GTM), an integrated research, media, and events firm covering the global renewable energy industry that was acquired by Wood MacKenzie in 2016.

 

As an industry expert covering global solar markets, he led and managed GTM's efforts in tracking, forecasting and analyzing solar PV and battery storage industry trends and metrics, regulatory developments, policy incentives and technologies across a range of products and services to a client base including GE, Con Edison, NYSERDA and NREL.

 

Additionally, he was responsible for negotiating and managing research partnerships with trade organizations such as SEPA and SEIA, as well as interfacing with industry stakeholders towards the development of over 50 conference seminars, workshops and discussion panels on solar PV technology, regulatory landscape and policy design.

 

His analysis has been featured in such publications as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Washington Post as well as organizations such as the Congressional Budget Office and the U.S. Department of Energy.

 

Prior to GTM, Shyam worked as a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research and a Research Analyst at The Brattle Group, where he conducted a variety of econometric analyses to solve complex problems within the electricity industry.

 

Shyam has resided in New York since 2007 and has a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

Evan O'Neil
Director of Operations

Evan O’Neil brings over a decade of communications and nonprofit experience to his role as Director of Operations for NYSEIA.

 

He recently led sustainability communications for Sombra Mezcal, a 1% for the Planet company. Evan secured media coverage, built marketing and branding relationships, and planned events with environmental organizations around the country to communicate the ecologically modern production methods at Sombra.

 

Previously, Evan was editor of Policy Innovations magazine for Carnegie Council, a publication dedicated to telling the stories of innovative social entrepreneurs, academics, nonprofits, and policymakers around the world.

 

Evan has experience with government relations through his work in the election sector, researching policies for voting machine security as well as serving as a community board member and poll worker in Queens.

 

Evan is also a board member of Climate Ride, a nonprofit that produces inspiring charitable outdoor adventures to fund climate change advocacy, wildlife conservation, sustainable transportation, and clean energy adoption across the United States.

In his spare time, Evan organizes volunteer beach cleanups and kayaking events with HarborLAB in Long Island City, NY.

Evan has a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.
