Event Description
Increasing rooftop solar across the United States is essential to meeting our country’s renewable energy goals, but cumbersome and inconsistent permitting processes delay growth and frustrate customers. It doesn’t have to be this way. For example, the city of San Jose, California switched in 2016 to online permitting and increased approved permits by 600%.
Join U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and Mayors Regina Romero and Sylvester Turner for a roundtable discussion on lowering solar deployment barriers, meeting climate action targets, and increasing resiliency through automated permitting in their communities.
The event will also feature the national launch and wider availability of an innovative, automated solar permitting software called SolarAPP+. This new tool streamlines the solar permitting process by reviewing solar applications for building code compliance and providing instant approval for compliant projects, making it easier for local governments to issue permits for rooftop solar and solar-plus-storage projects.
Attend this webinar to learn the benefits of instant, automated permitting, and then ask your local elected officials to help their communities adopt this new tool. Register for this event, here.
Speakers will include:
- U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm
- Solar Energy Technologies Office Director Dr. Becca Jones-Albertus
- Mayor Regina Romero, City of Tucson, AZ
- Mayor Sylvester Turner, City of Houston, TX
- David Hochschild, Chair, California Energy Commission
- Lynn Jurich, CEO, Sunrun
- Abigail Ross Hopper, President and CEO, Solar Energy Industries Association
To learn more about SolarAPP+, visit solarapp.nrel.gov or watch the overview video. We look forward to seeing you there and to helping towns across New York implement this innovation.
