Who we are:

Formed in 1994, NYSEIA's statewide membership consists of:

  • Solar electric (PV) and solar thermal manufacturers, distributors, and retailers.
  • PV, solar water heating, and solar space heating installers.
  • Energy efficient and green building designers, architects, and engineers.
  • Vocational and technical educators training students and the future workforce.
  • Environmental and sustainable energy advocates.
  • Consumers seeking solar energy advice and assistance.
What we do:

  • Educate the public, legislators, policy makers, and regulators on the environmental, economic development, and energy supply benefits of solar energy use.
  • Participate in key public policy and regulatory decision making processes affecting the solar industry. Provide information on solar energy and the solar industry in NYS to the NYS Assembly, Senate, Public Service Commission, etc.
  • Collaborate with other renewable energy, environmental, and economic development groups to expand development and use of solar energy in New York State.
  • Organize and present conferences, trade shows, fairs, and other public events. 
  • Provide speeches and presentations for both general and technical audiences on the status of solar energy use and the solar industry in New York State.
  • Offer training workshops and courses for code officials, installers, and other solar energy professionals. 
  • Help develop the future workforce by providing a PV Installer Internship program, sharing information on job openings and personnel seeking positions, etc.
  • Serve as a clearinghouse for those seeking information on solar energy.
