New York Solar Energy Industries Association Statement on the Public Service Commission’s Order Adopting Program for Meter Socket Adapters

New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) applauds Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Public Service Commission for adopting a statewide program for meter socket adapters, an important step toward reducing the cost of residential solar and battery storage for New Yorkers.

For many homeowners, the need for electrical upgrades can add thousands of dollars to the cost of a solar or battery project. This decision creates a pathway to reduce those costs and expand access to technologies that help families lower their electric bills, improve resilience, and take greater control of their energy future.

NYSEIA strongly supported this initiative throughout the proceeding and is proud to have helped shape an outcome that adopted several recommendations advanced by the industry, including a more streamlined review process and a more consistent statewide framework for deployment.

We thank Governor Hochul, Chair Rory Christian, the Public Service Commission, and Department of Public Service Staff for advancing this important policy and look forward to supporting its successful implementation.
